We arrived in Dingboche yesterday, as planned, and are spending today resting and relaxing. We are both doing good, eating and drinking lots, and acclimatizing well. Everything is still on schedule and we are all in one piece (except for that one piece of Jennie's tooth).
The weather has been good, sunny every morning (although it's starting to get very windy) with the clouds rolling in around noon. The nights are getting cold (below zero for several days now) but we have plenty of layers and cups of tea to keep us warm.
Today we went for a small walk up to 4700m to help acclimatize. It gave us and amazing first view of Island Peak. From the same spot we could also see Lhotse and Makalu (the worlds 4th and 5th tallest mountains.) Too late to back out now!
We spent last night playing cards with everyone in the lodge. At one point we were playing a game of Hello Kitty Uno with 9 people, including an Australian, a Dutch guy, a Russian, a man from Iowa who will be summiting Everest next week, two of the lodge staff and our Sherpa guide.

ReplyDelete...tooth?
ReplyDeleteTomorrow (they are a day ahead) they move to High Camp for the Summit push. Our thoughts are with them as we live vicariously through efforts.
ReplyDeleteEnough of this junk, just go for it!
